What is Radiomarathon?

Radiomarathon Australia is an annual fundraiser that brings together the community for the benefit
of children with special needs.

Fundraising activities are organised by Laiki Bank (Australia) Ltd ABN 44 093 488 629 , with
100% of all net money raised going directly towards hospital units, special schools and organisations who take on the challenge and rewarding task of helping children with special needs.

The Radiomarathon effort began in 1990 in Cyprus when Laiki Group (now part of Marfin Popular Bank Public Company Ltd) joined the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, Cyprus’s largest radio network to begin a fundraising drive called Radiomarathon.

Today fundraising activities for Radiomarathon take place simultaneously in Cyprus, Greece, UK, Australia. It has now grown to be one of the largest Greek-speaking charitable initiatives of its kind worldwide. In Australia, Radiomarathon finished its 11th year of fundraising in 2007.

Our Mission

Radiomarathon Australia is dedicated to the learning, treatment, support and improvement of the quality of life of children with special needs, by organising fundraising activities and then dispersing
the funds back into areas of the community where they are needed most.

Radiomarathon extends its support on an individual basis as well as to hospital units, special schools, and organisations that facilitate the learning and therapy required by children with special needs.

Funds raised by Radiomarathon, remain in Australia and are dispersed in the states in which Radiomarathon operates i.e. NSW, Victoria & South Australia.

Our Challenge

• Provide ethical and monetary support to children with special needs.

• To fundraise, to inform and to sensitise the general public and each individual citizen.

• Provide monetary aid to hospital units, organisations and special schools that care for children with special needs, and where individual cases arise, the purchase of specialised equipment and education.

• Change people’s perception of children with special needs.

• Help ensure that children with special needs are respected and are accepted into the community.

• Support programs that have the potential to improve the quality of life of children with special needs and provide them with equal opportunities.
