Annual Dance - Thalassaemia Association of Victoria
The third annual charity dinner for Thalassaemia research took place Saturday, June 17 at the Ultima Reception Centre in Keilor Victoria. The successful event was held in memory of the late A/Professor Panos Ioannou, with $40,00 raised on the night to be used to assist in the research and development of treatments for the disease, which affects the ability of the human body to reproduce red blood cells. Thalassaemia sufferers require consistent blood transfusions to survive.

Radiomarathon Christmas Card Competition
Mariana Papayianakis of St Spyridon College NSW, Aleksa Todorivic of St George College SA, and James Demertzidis of Oakleigh Greek Orthodox College VIC were each selected as the state winners, in the Radiomarathon Christmas card drawing competition for 2006.
The competition involved school children from over 40 schools in NSW, Victoria and South Australia, between the ages of 5-12 years old. The competition was met by resounding enthusiasm from the participating students and staff, with over 2000 entries. An independent panel of judges had the challenging task of selecting a winning design for each state to be printed into Radiomarathon Christmas Cards, which proved to be very popular with great sales and support across all 3 states.

Radiomarathon Official Launch
Radiomarathon has officially launched its fundraising initiative for 2006 with resounding success. For the 5^th consecutive year St George College, Adelaide was the generous host of the luncheon for over 100 guests, raising over $12,000. Distinguished guests from the South Australian business community were treated to a banquet prepared by year 11 & 12 hospitality students, with food donated by the neighbouring business community, as well as items for the very successful “silent auction”.
