Radiomarathon 2007 Official Launch at St George College, SA
Radiomarathon has officially launched its fundraising initiative for 2007 with resounding success. Once again the St George College, Adelaide with the help of Laiki Bank, has worked very hard to stage an impressive event with over 110 guests.
The event raised over $18,000, thanks to the distinguished guests from the South Australian business community, who were treated to a banquet prepared by the year 11 & 12 hospitality students. The local business community donated the food, and items were donated towards the successful silent auction.
Distinguished guests at the luncheon included His Grace Bishop Nikandros of Dorileou, The Hon Tom Koutsantonis MP representing the Premier of South Australia, Mike Rann, The Hon David Ridgeway MLC, representing The Leader of the Oposition, Martin Hamilton-Smith, Mr. Steve Georganas MP Federal Member for Hindmarsh, The Consul General for Greece, Mr. Dimitris Hatzopoulos, The Hon Michael Harbison, Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Mr. George Demetriou, representing Mr. John Trainer, Mayor of the City of West Torrens, The Hon Greg Crafter, The Chairman of the Board of Governors of St George Coillege, Mr. Basil Taliangis, and Mr. George Panagopoulos, Principal of St. George College.
Michalis Athanasiou, General Manager of Laiki Bank and Chairman of the Radiomarathon Trust outlined some of the organisations, which have received support this year and commented, “We have plans to make the initiative’s contribution even more visible in the coming period, although Radiomarathon has only been made possible in the first place, by the strong support of the community and organisations such as St George College“.
